Here is a picture of Reese taking THE LAST DOSE of Accutane. Yipppeee!!!! It is official, we are done treatment. Dude, scary. So what happens now? The schedule over the next couple weeks is:
Monday, Aug 30: Reese has a bone marrow biopsy and aspirate to see if there continues to be no cancer in the bone marrow
Thursday, Sept 2: we’re back at SK for Reese to get an injection of radioactive isotopes in prep for her bone scan on Friday
Friday, Sept 3: Reese has her bone scan (MIBG) and CT scan to see what the remaining cancer has done since the last scan in February. Back then she had cancer remaining in her right pelvis and the tops of her two femurs.
Sept 4 – 9: Jon and I slap on an everything-is-fine-man-fine smile, take up heavy drinking and chain smoking, pop a few Valium and start begging, pleading, negotiating with the powers that be.
Thursday, Sept 9 at 2:00pm: THE MEETING. We meet with the oncologist for the test results.
Uck, can’t even bare to think about it. I KNOW with every fiber of my being that Reese will beat this. I just don’t know when. Is it now? Is it after more treatment? Is it after a relapse or two? Oh to have a crystal ball. All we can do is deal with the results and map out the next phase of our lives then.
U need something something?
I know a guy who knows a girl….with a medicine box…
Oh wait.. that’s my kid.
Congrats! You guys did it. And we’re just coming up to the half way point…
